What is the Future for Christianity in America?
Is America immune to persecution from those who want to remove God and His Son Jesus from our lives and vocabulary? If you answered yes, then we implore you read this section of the website. We are not immune. In fact, we are already under attack and have been for quite some time.
I remember when I was in elementary school the removal of prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Although I was too young then to understand the ramifications, that for me was the beginning of our downward spiral for me. We are going to share a mixture of current issues of the day, as well as, actions from years past that have helped bring us to our current fight to keep Christianity in the mainstream.
Please consider these stories and news items carefully. If Christ tarries much longer, we will find ourselves on the cusp of living under the ruler-ship of those who would try to force us underground for our beliefs and teaching.
The Fight for Our Faith
At one time in our history, the bible was a textbook in our schools. Many of our universities began with the express purpose of providing a great education, which included a complete study on the Christian faith and the bible. How then did we come to this?
v May 1995: Students, with the okay from the school district, read aloud prayers, specifically Christian prayers, on school property. U.S. District Judge Samuel B. Kent presided over the lawsuit against the school district. In his instructions, he stated, "the court is going to have a United States marshal in attendance at the graduation. If any student offends this court, that student will be summarily arrested and will face up to six months incarceration in the Galveston County Jail for contempt of court." The judge’s ruling included prayer to any “god”, but since the case about Christian prayer – well you get the picture.
v June 2008: Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) wrote on the ACLJ website the following report, “On my way to Washington, DC this morning, I have been in contact with our offices in Virginia concerning a report out of a school district in Texas that has all of us concerned. Apparently, a public school principal in Texas arranged for an instruction in Islamic relations by an organization whose leaders have been linked to terror groups by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense.
This schools mandatory event took place despite the principal being notified by the School District Superintendent to not have the students participate in this event. School District students at Friendswood Junior High School in Houston, TX were required to attend an assembly scheduled by the principal, where two women from the Houston Division of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) provided indoctrination. The assembly went beyond an objective presentation, as the students were told that Adam, Noah and Jesus are prophets, [and also] announced there is one god, his name is Allah. Further, the students were also taught the five pillars of Islam with prayer instruction, all without parental consent.
Of the incident, one outraged school board member has been quoted as asserting that [t]his is part of a nationally orchestrated effort to indoctrinate students through the school system." Moreover, one parent complained the Muslims were given full attention of our kids, during academic school time, to present their religious beliefs. This was put right at the end of the school year which will most likely prevent a Christian response."
These are just two examples of our government and other religions trying to either force God and His Son out of American life, or forcing their beliefs on us in order to remove Christianity from our society. On the following pages in this section, we will provide brief recaps of the stories with links to where you can get the full picture.
