Missionaries/Organizations

Current Missionary(ies)

If your church or Christian organization already supports a missionary working in countries where persecution is the norm, we heartily recommend sending your Huddled and Hurting Project funds in that direction. Adding this funding to your existing support will go a long way and help that missionary and his congregation in this ongoing struggle.

Our home church, Open Door Baptist Church in Anderson Township, OH does just that. It has been a very successful program for both the missionary, who has been in prison, and in helping various members of his congregation heal through the persecution they have suffered.

Organizations

If you do not have a missionary in a persecuted part of the world, we offer the following list of organizations for your approval.

Answer the Need has reviewed and researched the ministries listed here and we have found them to be devoted to helping persecuted and needy Christians around the world.  For each organization, we will give you a brief overview of their mission, a link to their website, and if possible, some idea of how their donations are distributed.

We feel that this is a good time to remind you that Answer the Need is NOT a clearinghouse for donations, nor do we ask for donations.  We are providing the information mentioned for each organization, including their website link, so you can donate to each one directly.  Answer the Need DOES NOT receive any type of compensation from any of the organizations we list on our website.

Our goal is to open your eyes and hearts to this mission and pray the Holy Spirit will move you to share some of what God has provided.  Thank you.

Open Doors USA

Mission Statement of Open Doors:
Serving Persecuted Christians Worldwide; We are an organization aimed at strengthening persecuted believers worldwide through community development, Bible & literature distribution, leadership training & education, and ministries of prayer and advocacy.

Core Competencies:

What makes Open Doors unique is our ability to get things done. With God’s guidance, we have attained the accessibility, scalability, and credibility necessary to make a real difference in the lives of persecuted Christians worldwide. All while maintaining a level of invisibility that deflects attention away from us and towards our partners and ultimately, Jesus Christ.

This organization is recognized by many other Christian groups such as Focus on the Family and Campus Crusade for Christ.  To find out more about this ministry and its service to 60 countries around the world, click on the following link:

International Christian Concern (ICC)

ICC acts as a bridge between believers in free countries and believers in persecuted countries. This bridge carries encouragement, prayers, and aid in while news, requests, and love flow back over the bridge. The bridge also allows for the voices and concerns of the persecuted to be heard by the Church so that we might move the rest of the world to act on their behalf.

Helping All Christians:

  • We are non-denominational and will assist all persecuted Christians who affirm the Apostles’ Creed and believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. This includes Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox believers.
  • The persecuted church cannot easily afford to be isolated based on denominational differences, and we feel a Biblical mandate to support all who confess Christ as Lord, understanding that there are significant theological differences between denominations and traditions.
  • We acknowledge and accept the differences, but feel we must pull together to support and defend the weakest members of our family. . .the persecuted. To find out more about Voice of the Martyrs, use the following link:

Christian Freedom International

CFI has relationships with indigenous believers and churches including underground house church networks and Christian cell groups in countries where they are persecuted for their faith.

These courageous Christians share our passion for assisting the part of the body that is suffering. They work to provide medicine, safe-houses, aid, Bibles, education, microenterprise, documentation, and advocacy to Christians and their families who are on the front lines of persecution.

Because they risk arrest, imprisonment, torture, and martyrdom for their work, CFI is careful to protect their identity and details of the work in their country.

CFI accomplishes its purpose by:

  • Monitoring and assessing where Christians are persecuted the most and what their exact needs are;
  • Partnering with indigenous believers and churches, including underground house church networks and Christian cell groups to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid, medicine, clothes, Bibles, and other requested items;
  • Protecting donor investments through accountability systems that measure and report the results of our ministry, through the grace of God.

Voice of the Martyrs

The Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) is a nonprofit, interdenominational missions organization that serves persecuted Christians around the world. Founded in 1967 by Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, VOM is dedicated to inspiring believers to deepen their commitment to Christ and to fulfill His Great Commission — no matter the cost.

Their stated purpose is:

  • To encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission in areas of the world where they are persecuted for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • To provide practical relief and spiritual support to the families of Christian martyrs.
  • To equip persecuted Christians to love and win to Christ those who are opposed to the gospel in their part of the world.
  • To undertake projects of encouragement, helping believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries where they have formerly suffered oppression.
  • To promote the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of the faith and courage of persecuted Christians, thereby inspiring believers to a deeper level of commitment to Christ and involvement in His Great Commission.

Individual Contributions

If the church does not or can not participate in the Huddled and Hurting Project, a third option would be for individuals in the congregation to contribute to the organizations listed here on their own. This is a great opportunity for people to support the needs of their fellow Christians through the efforts provided by the organizations listed on this website.

Individuals would simply put aside their "fasted" money from taking their lunch or giving up designer coffee for a day and then personally send the money. They could choose to send it each month to the same organization, or spread the wealth by choosing a different organization each month. Either way brothers and sisters around the world would benefit.
